Cody Ford is the President and founder of ChurchStreet Technology, as well as the company's chief algorithmic architect, and pioneer of shredded document reconstruction technology now in full use.

 

After watching the collapse of Enron on television, and the subsequent removal of shredded documents from their downtown Houston headquarters, Ford commented to a few friends that shredded document reconstruction could be made much easier using basic scanning techniques and custom software. Within 2 weeks he had proven the concept and dedicated his off hours to the new project. Fueled by Grande Mochas and working with a laptop attached to a portable scanner, Ford created the first version of his electronic shredded document reconstruction software in the corner of a Houston Starbuck's coffee shop. Within three months, and with less than a thousand dollars, he bootstrapped a new venture around the same technology, as well as the service of reconstructing shredded documents for clients around the world. Later, after forming ChurchStreet, Ford would go on to develop innovative Data Exposure Assessment tools to accurately measure sensitive information leakage. The assessment combined with powerful tactics to ensure document security, has proven to be a vital element in the prevention of onsite “dumpster diving”.

 

Born into a family of dynamic artists, writers and entrepreneurs Ford was bitten by the programming bug after purchasing a Texas Instruments TI-99A when he was 18. He immersed himself in the Basic programming language and continued his studies while working in industry and raising a family on the South Texas coast. At 35, with plenty of late nights, pizza and sodas under his belt, he left industry and joined the IT world full force as a self-taught programmer.

 

The company name combines Church Street, where Ford's Grandfather, a Russian immigrant, opened his clock shop in downtown Galveston, Texas some 80 years earlier. Today ChurchStreet Technology serves governments, intelligence groups, law enforcement, investigators and legal teams worldwide with their innovative forensic services. Work product from ChurchStreet has been a powerful tool in courts in the United States and abroad.

 

When not overseeing ChurchStreet, Ford speaks to organizations and groups globally about his pioneering technology, leading effective and efficient programming teams, and successfully bootstrapping an IT venture without outside capital. His speaking engagements have been well received in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe. He is available for select IT projects, and has consulted for the Navy, major healthcare industries, legal software development teams, the Israel Antiquities Authority, and other organizations around the world. Ford’s speeches also cover the Technological Patent sector, Fraud prevention, Identity Theft Prevention, and Document Compliance. He enjoys a close association with NAID, the National Association for Information Destruction and its efforts to securely destroy sensitive information.
